Wheat Foods Council hires Communications Director

Lynn Holly will enhance and extend WFC programming

PARKER, Colo. (May 2, 2006) - The Wheat Foods Council is pleased to announce the addition of Lynn Holly as Communications Director effective April 24, 2006. Holly has a strong background in marketing and public relations and extensive experience in working with commodity food organizations.

In her previous position as Advertising, Marketing and Promotions Director for Western Dairy Promotion Association, she was responsible for development of print material for a variety of internal and external industry communications as well as marketing messages to broadcast media. Holly’s leadership experience in advertising and marketing with local and national nonprofit organizations will be instrumental in her work with stakeholders, grain industry businesses and targeted audiences. “We are very excited about adding Lynn to our team,” says Marcia Scheideman, MS, RD, president, “she will add a dimension to the Wheat Foods Council that will allow us to extend our reach in significant ways.”

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications and Advertising from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Her responsibilities at Wheat Foods Council will include creating and producing monthly newsletters, news releases, identifying opportunities for media outreach and preparation of other Council materials and presentations. In addition to her work with the Dairy Association, she had advertising agency experience and was marketing manager for a regional restauranteur. Lynn confirms, “I am thrilled to be here as I will have the opportunity to contribute to an industry that I highly value and is essential to everyone’s daily diet.”

The Wheat Foods Council is a nonprofit organization formed in 1972 to help increase public awareness of grains, complex carbohydrates, and fiber as essential components of a healthful diet. The Council is supported voluntarily by wheat producers, millers, bakers, and related industries.
