FAQs

What is the best source of fuel for athletes?
All recent peer-reviewed research points to carbohydrates as the best source of fuel. In fact, 60 percent to 70 percent of an athlete's diet should be from carbohydrates, 15 percent from protein and 20 percent from fat. Carbohydrates are stored in the muscles as glycogen and are called into action when glucose from the blood is exhausted.
