10 Ways to Keep Your Armchair Quarterback from Turning Into a Couch Potato

As you turn your attention to a game-day spread, score big with the following low-fat treats your friends and family will scramble for:

  • Serve lower-fat wheat crackers with low-fat dill dip and savor the flavor.

  • Sprinkle your favorite lean chili mix over mini pretzels and top with low-fat French onion dip for a tasty twist.

  • Toast fresh pita bread and cut into triangles. Arrange on plate with a few black olives and serve with hummus or salsa.

  • Layer slices of pumpernickel or rye with slices of lean turkey and low-fat colby cheese, shredded lettuce and tomato slices. Add a dab of spicy mustard, a sprinkle of oregano, a dash of vinegar and serve.

  • Buy a loaf of French or Italian bread, slice vertically, then fill with lean deli meats or tuna, lettuce, low-fat mayo and chopped celery. Add red or green peppers. Slice off a sandwich at a time.

  • Spread graham crackers with a thin layer of low-fat cream cheese. For sweetness, add slices of banana and kiwi.

  • Line a football helmet with a cloth napkin and fill with your favorite variety of seasoned lower-fat crackers, pretzels, dry-roasted peanuts and raisins.

  • Surround a crockpot of soup with a variety of lower-fat whole wheat, cheese, onion and saltine crackers.

  • Make a low-fat trail mix for munching with your favorite cold cereals, pretzels and dried fruit bits.

  • Spread flour tortillas with salsa, sliced jalapenos, black beans and low-fat cream cheese. Roll them up and slice into pinwheels. Hold with toothpicks.
