FAQs

Do I have to eliminate my favorite desserts to have a healthy diet?
No. The Dietary Guidelines for Americans emphasize the importance of "moderation, variety and balance." If you want a brownie for dessert, have a low-fat salad and roll for dinner. Every meal, or even every day, does not have to be low-fat. However, over a week's time, eat less than 30 percent of your total calories in the form of fat. Read the nutrition facts label to help you gauge your fat intake.
