FAQs

Are bread and other grain foods fattening?
No. High-carbohydrate foods such as bread, cereal, pasta, crackers, tortillas and other grain foods are generally low in calories. However, anything eaten in excess will be stored as fat. Carbohydrates contain four calories per gram while fat contains nine calories per gram. That means you can eat over twice the amount of carbohydrate foods for the same number of calories as high fat foods.
