All American Cheeseburger
Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef, 90% lean
1/3 cup chopped onion
1 large egg
1 3/4 cups milk, low-fat or fat-free
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons prepared mustard
1 1/2 cups grated cheddar cheese, divided
8 slices white or whole wheat bread
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350F.
Lightly spray a 9 x 9-inch baking pan with cooking spray.
Brown ground beef and onion in skillet. Drain.
Beat egg, milk, salt, pepper and mustard together and pour 1/3 mixture into pan. Place 4 slices of bread on top of egg mixture, top with cup cheese. Spoon the meat mixture evenly over cheese and top with 1/2 cup cheese. Place remaining bread slices on top of cheese. Pour last 2/3 cup egg mixture over bread slices and top with remaining 1/2 cup cheese.
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until set and lightly browned. If casserole has been refrigerated, allow additional 5 to10 minutes to bake. Serve with catsup.

This is not your typical "cheeseburger." I made this during the summer as a quick and tasty dinner. My family loved it. It was fast and good. And the leftovers were delicious as the flavors had time to blend together overnight. I will definitely make this again. Yummy!
